A cream based on UV filters, Delial ointment, was introduced for the first time in the 1930s. This was soon followed by Ambre Solaire and Piz Buin, which was launched on the market in 1946. The inventor of Piz Buin, the chemist Fritz Greiter, also defined the so-called sun protection factor (SPF) for the first time.
